WILLOW SMITH JOINS TRUE JACKSON

Willow Smith, the 8-year-old daughter of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, has signed up to make her television debut on Nickelodeon.

The child actress, who has appeared in the movies "I Am Legend" and "Kit Kittredge: An American Girl," will appear in a special one-hour episode of Nickelodeon's comedy series "True Jackson, VP," which is to air July 25, the network said.

Willow will play a younger version of the show's title character in flashback scenes. The older True, who is the teenage head of the youth division of a major fashion label, is played by Keke Palmer.

"I get my style ideas from 'True Jackson, VP,'" Willow said in a statement. "If I had my own fashion company, I would call it 'Willow's Reign.'"

MICHAEL JACKSON'S MEMORIAL

Soon and very soon, we are going to see the King. Well, the King of Pop was laid to rest today in what turned out to be a beautiful memorial service. My head is still throbbing from crying and laughing at all of the speeches and thoughts that were shared today by Michael's friends and family.

Although I didn't receive tickets to attend the memorial, I really want to say THANK YOU to Katherine Jackson for allowing all of us to be a part of the celebration of her son's life. What a selfless woman! My heart goes out to Michael's children. I can't imagine the pain and utter shock they are in. Their lives are about to change forever but hopefully the strong family unit that surrounded them today will hold them up and keep them strong.
Click below for several pictures from the memorial.

MICHAEL JACKSON: "THEY DON'T REALLY CARE ABOUT US"

The drums on this song are ridiculous. This has always been one of my favorite Michael Jackson videos. Love how he shows Brazil and love how into it the kids are. Plus Mike was getting his dance on in this one.

MICHAEL JACKSON MEMORIAL TICKETS FOR SALE...

So with yesterday came with the news of those that won or in my case "lost" tickets to the Michael Jackson memorial scheduled for Tuesday July 7th at 10am. With this news comes the inevitable folks without scruples who registered for tickets knowing that they would not attend the event. So instead of picking up tickets at Staples Center tomorrow morning, they are selling the tickets on ebay. I've seen at least three auctions for tickets ranging from one hundred to upwards of one million dollars.

I don't know about you but I believe that selling tickets to someone's funeral is totally tacky and there's a special place in you know where for these folks. R.I.P. Michael.

MICHAEL JACKSON TOPS THE CHARTS...AGAIN

Nielsen SoundScan says Michael Jackson's album sales have exploded - three of his albums are in the top three spots and 2.3 million tracks have been downloaded in the United States since his death.

Album sales for the week through Sunday hit 422,000 in the U.S., up from 10,000 a week earlier. The week's tally was greater than all the Jackson albums sold from the start of the year to June 21.

The top three albums were "Number Ones," "Essential Michael Jackson," and "Thriller."

In other Michael Jackson news, Hip-OSelect.com -- an Internet retail site specializing in reissues of Universal Music Group items -- will release “Hello World: The Motown Solo Collection” on Friday. The three-CD set features every Jackson solo recording released between 1971 and ‘75, plus all Motown-era songs issued after he left the company to sign with Epic in 1975.

The latter recordings include “Farewell My Summer Love,” originally released in 1984 as a “lostJackson solo album slated to hit the racks a decade earlier, and “Looking Back to Yesterday,” a 1986 compilation of then-unreleased tracks from Jackson and the Jackson 5. And while all the music has been available before, Hip-OSelect touts bonus tracks on the new collection in its “original, undubbed mixes.”

Curiously, the U.S. Copyright Office lists more than 1,000 titles under Jackson’s name; a good number of have been recorded but many have not. Titles range from the seemingly sentimental “Elizabeth I Love You” to the cryptically named “(I Took an) Overdose.” Signal Hill Capital Group and Fortress Credit Corp. are listed among copyright owners, presumably as future collateral to settle the singer’s debts, reported to be in the $400 million range. Neither firm returned calls.

DRAKE'S KANYE WEST DIRECTED VIDEO "BEST I EVER HAD"

Here's the video for former "Degrassi" star and current rapper on the rise, Drake's, song "Best I Ever Had." Kanye West directed the video and it's clear that directing is not his forte'. I think he probably would have been better off just sticking with the lyrics of the song because this video is extra cheesy.

"A WAR FOR YOUR SOUL" DOCUMENTARY

All I can say is WOW after seeing this. I wish more people in the black community were making these kinds of statements but I'm glad to see this and hope that a lot of our youth have a chance to view it. People always laugh at me when I suggest that the black race in America will one day cease to exist if things keep going the way they are.

Slavery really had it's effects on us and I truly feel that a lot of our youth are mentally enslaved to self destruct. Be sure to check out the video above and feel free to leave a comment or two with your thoughts.

VIBE MAGAZINE COWERS TO THE RECESSION

Another day, another magazine folds. The latest victim, Vibe Magazine. According to internal memos issued to the staff on Tuesday by editor in chief Danyel Smith and Steve Aaron, former CEO of the Vibe Media Group, Vibe magazine will be no more.

"It is with great sadness, and with heads held high, that we leave the building today," wrote Smith. "We were assigning and editing a Michael Jackson tribute issue when we got the news. It's a tragic week overall, but as the doors of the Vibe Media Group close, on the eve of the magazine's 16th anniversary, it's a sad day for music, for hip hop in particular, and for the millions of readers and users who have loved and continue to love the Vibe brand."

Quincy Jones, the producer behind Jackson's best-selling LPs "Off the Wall" and "Thriller," founded the magazine with Time Warner in 1992. Like other music publications that have closed shop recently -- a list that includes Blender, Radio and Records and Performing Songwriter -- Vibe suffered from a steep drop in print advertising, having announced in February that it would cut its rate base from 800,000 to 600,000.

In his memo, Aaron also cited the lack of investments sources need to keep the enterprise afloat.

"The deal market right now remains very poor and at the end of the day, the lack of investment resources to restructure the huge debt load on our small company has made this outcome a reality," he wrote.
